Bomber from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours clear copper with a creamy/bubbly near white head. Aromas of oak and hop. Med body, almost. Flavor is vanilla, oak, floral/citrus, and lightly roast caramel. Nicely done. Nothing extreme. Bourbon is detectable after awhile, and the oak adds a nice astringency. It’s certainly bitter, but not harshly so. There’s an aspect suggesting it wants to be sour, but it’s just hovering on that. This is a 2011 bottle that’s been in a fridge for several months. No harm done. Very nice ale.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with an off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt, brettanomyces, and a bit of bourbon. The flavor if sweet with notes of malt, bourbon, brettanomyces, and a bit of caramel, leading to a bitter and alcoholic finish.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of kristina. Pours golden with a slight haze and a small off-white head. Sweet and slightly oaky nose combined with some citrusy hops. Medium body, sweet and fruity, vanillaish oak but the bitter, citrusy hops seem to dominate. Dry and hoppy finish. Subtle and easy going. 220312

Draft at Dexters. Amber-brown, foamy off-white head, oily. Really pleasant aroma. Quite mellow, smooth, not much bitterness other than a faint balance. So simple that it bugs me it’s sold in expensive 22s. Id scoop up a sixer, but it’s really just another watery beer from New Holland. Whatever.

Bought at Lemon Tree in July. It probably shouldn’t have been cellared this long, but let’s see. Pours a gentle hop nose. Amber to brown body, nice half-finger of eggshell foam. First sip is mild, but just a little more builds up on the Centennial hops. The malt gives the impression of starting toward phenol, but as of now, it’s just fine. A bit sweet on the tongue, but also a dry finish. Hops building in the aftertaste. Any oak impressions are around the edges, part of the aftertaste. The Mad Hatter with just a little something extra, yet excellent for a $5 bomber.
