Being pursued by a giant assortment of laser-equipped cupcake-spaceships is many things, but it is certainly no time to panic. Miracle Mike and his galactic canine Bionic have been through far worse, and they always seem to find a way past the relentless pursuit of the Space Cake fleet. This Double IPA features robust hop aromas that carry through to the strong juicy flavors of tropical citrus. A sweet and strong malt backbone pairs with a subtle booziness to make Space Cake an approachable DIPA fit for an extraterrestrial odyssey.

Tap at Baan Bangkok. Poured a clear medium amber with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is malt, woody resin hop. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a malt, alcoholic, resin, floral hop bitter finish. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

Buena.

Mix of draft taster pour at Powder Keg Beer & Chili Festival (11/18 and can pour 2/17/21 (Best by 1/31/21). Appearance is mildly hazy honey brown with light sparkle, 1/2-finger width off-white head with fair retention and fair soapy lacing. Aroma is moderately strong caramel with pine and vegetal. Taste is stronger than aroma, with equally strong bitter pine balancing malt contribution. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, fairly thin texture, soft-to-average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, decent West Coast IPA but not earth shattering or terribly complex. Given its reputation, I was expecting something more dramatic but strength may have been something back in the day.
