500ml bottle [Thanx Gunnar!]. Clear, orangey, deep golden colour with average, thick, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Minimally sweet-ish, grainy aroma with a honey touch, hints of green apple. Taste is slightly dry, fruity, hints of green apple, apple parings, subtle honey sweetness.

Tap at RJ. Aroma fruity, blunt caramel. Average. Clear golden colour, stable white head. Taste is unapalling, simple. Fruity, candyish. Remains rather sweet throughout, only light light ambiguous bitterness. Utterly average, mainstream.

4th Oct 2014. 0.3 litre pour from a tap at a stall on a barge surrounded by market people on the river Vltava, Prague. Was dubious when I realised it was a ’honey beer’ but I liked it. Good looking, with a copper body and a lasting white head of creamy foam. Aroma is malty with no hint of honey. Taste is also fairly malty with only a mild hop bitterness which has to be searched for. As for the honey, it is very subtle in nature but can be detected if you allow the beer to linger in the mouth and warm up a little. A pleasant surprise, I was not going to have this beer because I am not a huge honey with beer sort of guy, but a Czech chap and his wife recommended it to us and as we were sharing a table, it seemed only polite to indulge them: glad I did.

Bakalář Medový Speciál 14° - CZ - Honey Beer - 5.8%
Deep gold color, aroma is malty with light dark honey. Taste generally sweet, gently hopped. Texture a bit sticky as expectable, average carbonation, medium body, finish is surprisingly fairly dry instead.

Lahev: Deep golden, visible carbonation but no hed to speak of, sweet honeyish-grainy nose with a shovel of dark malt in the background, hops hardly detectable anyhow; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, almost medium bodied;sweetish-honeyish finish with a faint touch of hops in the aftertaste. Žádná slava…

(Draught at Kulovy Blesk, Prague, 20 July 2013) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with honey, caramel, orange and apricots. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, honey, apricots and a fairly sweet finish with a mild bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Quite nice.
