30cl bottle from Valkenburg (2025 version, BB 19th April 2028). Poured into a La Chouffe tulip glass at home on 21st February 2026 after watching Grimsby Town lose by 3 goals to one at Bristol Rovers (we were bloody awful) on television. Dark brown body, tanned roof of smooth, tight bubbles, which sadly departed very swiftly. Sweet malty taste with a slight harshness in the aftertaste of each mouthful. Brown sugar with a trace of saltiness within the flavour.

0.3 l bottle from 'AH XL' (Roermond), 2025 vintage, best before April 2030. Clear, very dark ruby to black with a medium large, frothy, stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity aroma of caramel, cocoa, raisins and prunes. Rather sweet, malty, moderately bitter, slightly fruity and a little spicy taste of caramel, molasses, cocoa, licorice root, raisins and some prunes, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, a little boozy finish. Full body, smooth and creamy mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Solid Eisbock, very well-brewed.

‘22 vintage bottle at home, accidentally cellared this one for 2+ years. Pours black with a tan head. Nose is big licorice, some soy sauce, dark chocolate. Taste is some chocolate, light cinnamon somehow and mostly licorice. Medium bitterness, light to medium body. Not terrible, but far from good. Full disclosure, I hate licorice.

Bottle at home. Aroma is wheaty malt, caramel, plum, dried fruits, raisins, touch of liquorice, nuts, and a hint of clove. Flavour is sweet and a bit sticky, not too boozy at all, alcohol is surprisingly well-hidden. Body is above medium. Bit like a WeizenEisBock. Nice one.

Strong alcohol notes in the aroma, some roasted notes. Dark brown color, small beige head. Still alcohol notes in flavor, medium bitter and lower sweetness. Full body, long finish.Creamy, like a stout.
