Tap. Pours hazy amber, medium creamy tan head, dissipates slowly leaving nice lacing. Aroma is dried fruits, toffee, rum, bourbon, dark sugars. Flavor follows, sweet, fruitcake and dark sugars, golden rum. Interesting, not great. Aftertaste has some odd notes, lingering zesty bitterness. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. ABV pretty well hidden.

On tap at the brewery. Pours with a murky bronze hue with a rather minimal off-white head. Decent lace though. Aromas are exaggerated dark fruits, raisins, fig, fig newton, dates, caramel, vinous, red currant. Dark fruit esters every where. Flavors are quite sweet and quite boozy. A good amount of bitterness but no real balance. Tons of dark fruits, medium to low bubbles. Thick. Alcohol is somewhat obvious.

Snifter and the brewpub - dark ruby - hazy - inviting nose of treacle, prune, fig, black cherry, toffee, light oxidation and oak - moderate carbo - served a bit cold, so the alcohol was way too evident at first, but as it warmed, this smoothed out a bit - kind of an americo-british barleywine in flavor - a lot of dark fruit sweetness and some toffee-ish notes - a surprising amount of oaky character through the middle and finish that paves the way for a more dry, hop bitterness through the finish - fairly balanced, but could use some age on it to smooth out the alcohol.

Draft. An unclear dark brown beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet with noteso fwine, wood, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, wood, coconut, and malt. The mouthfeel is thick and the alcohol burns in the throat and warms the cheeks.
