Bottled, vintage 2003, sampled July 2006. A deep red beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is very complex with notes of peaches, bitter oranges, other over ripe fruits, and Gouda cheese. The flavor is rather sweet (inspite of the 3 year cellaring) and very complex with notes of wood, bitter oranges, and madeira as well as light notes of Gouda cheese. The alcohol burns the mouth slightly, while the mouthfeel is sirupy.
Vintage 2004, sampled July 2006. A hazy orange beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet alcoholic with notes of over ripe fruits as well as stored fruits and fresh mango. The flavor is very sweet, but still very balanced with a complex fruit note containing mango, over ripe peaches and more, leading to a dry slightly woody end, which also has hints of prunes.
