Imperial IPA Aged in Bourbon Barrels
Doom may be impending but that doesn’t mean you have to fear it. A collision of worlds, the intense hop character of our imperial IPA mingles with the warm vanilla and oak notes imparted from time spent in our favorite bourbon barrels. Like all good things, Doom comes to those who wait.

750 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy amber color with a small white head. A big fruity hop nose and bourbon. The flavor amazingly works well: heat, rich caramel, sweet fruity hops, huge malty vanilla bourbon. Heat throughout. Melds into a BW type BA brew.

750 mL bottle from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville and shared at the 20th Richmond Gathering. Pours a clear copper color with a thin frothy off-white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of whisky, vanilla, wood, herbal hops. The taste vanilla, herbal hops, whisky, wood, even a bit of coconut. Medium bodied, well balanced. Really up my alley, Awesome beer.

750ml bottle poured into my favorite schlafly snifter. Pours a slightly cloudy dark orange with a half finger of white head. Aroma of oakey bourbon, vanilla, citrus and a hint of earthy hops. Loads of vanilla in the taste along with oak and citrus. Medium bitter and slightly warming. Full nodied with a thick creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a very long, warming finish. Overall, pretty darn good. Never had a BA ipa before. I would drink more from this style for sure.

Tap. Pours hazy butterscotch amber with little head or lacing. Aroma is pine, wood, buttered popcorn, toffee, bourbon. Flavor is medium sweet, medium bitter, buttery toffee notes ever present. Lingering bitter finish, touch of citrus, perhaps some lemon peel. Medium body, oily smooth mouthfeel.

About a 3.8 for me. The Bourbon is nicely done but I bug out to its dankness.

750 mL bottle. Pours clear golden orange with some small, sparse particles and a white head. Aromas of candied citrus, tropical fruit, bourbon. Oaky bourbon on top of tropical and citrus fruit flavors, pairing pretty well. I like it.

750 ml bottle shared by Adam Jackson. Flavor is subtle bourbon with vanilla with IPA notes of mango, peach, and apricot with a dry oak finish. The taste overall is on the sweet side but not cloying. The bourbon works well the base IPA which really was a surprise for me. Mouthfeel and body is medium leaning on full, the texture is a tad on the syrupy side. Low to moderate carbonation. Much better than I was expecting yet I wouldn’t go out of my way to get another bottle. Still nice to try.

Golden in color, nice lacing. Nose is pretty sweet, oaky with some honey and almost a barleywine note. Interesting taste. Glad I’m splitting this 750 with a buddy. very sweet, very bitter, bourbon is not that strong and it’s pretty drinkable but one glass is all you need.
