Another Limited Edition working Title – this time, I’ve picked a female name to balance the Barry, Barney etc. It’s Fruity, Juicy and a tiny bit malty – so had to be named after our Lucy! Unlike most of my hazy pales, I’ve added a small amount medium crystal malt and some bittering hops to balance the sweetness – so this really IS just like our Lucy 🙂

As an experiment I think it works – it’s an ale, with all the attributes of a ‘Hazy Pale’ but not too hazy, and looking more like a bitter…

Can. Coles Corner, Sheffield. Mostly clear copper colour. Decent pale cream head is fairly open but lasts well. Slightly leggy. On the nose the malts point towards ESB territory. Hint of strawberry flavour toffee and even a light toastiness. Hops come across floral herbaceous and fruity. Bit of a blackcurrant leaf character. Semi sweet to start getting punchy fruity lightly resinous bitterness. Good depth of flavour throughout. Nicely burp inducing levels of carbonation. Lingering bitterness to finish. Ska Modus Hoperandai territory this. Good. It’s never been a hazy pale ale though, as suggested by the blurb.
