Can @ Van Moll Brewpub. Clear orange golden color, medium sized off-white head. Aroma is malts, hops, pine, spruce. Taste malts, hops, pine, spruce, grassy hops lightly, malt and hop bitters. Medium body and carbonation. Nice IPA, quite like it!

Can from Koht. Oh dear, bbe 30.10.2014. Should have checked the can before buying it. Pours amber with a thick white head. Mostly herbal notes, malt and earthy notes. Flavor has caramel malty sweetness and mild herbal notes. Not much hops here anymore. Rerate needed.

From a 350ml can on 8/6/2015. Has a light tropical fruit nose. Take a sip and you get quite a bit of caramel malt, with some toffee, along with some sweet peach and apricot. There’s a good dash of hops in there, but not much grapefruit or resin as you’d normally expect in a US style IPA. Medium body and average carbonation. More than decent.

Poured into a SA Perfect Pint showing caramel honey golden with half a finger of clean white foam. The nose shows a lot of steel tank notes and some floral hops with hints of tropical fruit and slight cannabis. The palate is a clean maltiness balanced by the floral hops, a mid palate of steel tank, but a somewhat soft sharp IPA bitterness. Easy to approach and drink, surprisingly a pretty good IPA by a Japanese brewery.

Re-rate: Can from Natural Lawson. Drank straight from the can. Lots of grapefruit and light tropical notes on the nose. Feelsl light on the palate but still well-balanced with a much less intense malt character. Definitely some west coast influence now. Good citrusy, juicy hops with a lingering, pithy bitterness which is subdued and quite nice. This has to be a new recipe, definitely not the Aooni of the past few years. Really solid and this batch was better than Captain Crow. 330ml can from Masuyo’s in Tokyo. Poured into a shaker half pint. Beautiful rich copper color with a modest white head. Pine needles, tree sap, dark honey aromas present. A slight sweet malt flavor peeks out only to be squashed immediately by a tsunami of bitterness on the palate that drags the beer down as you swallow. A little too overwhelmingly bitter. --- Beer merged from original tick of Aooni (インドの青鬼) on 15 Jun 2015 at 08:55 - Score: 6
