Imperial Stout brewed with our friend Andrew LeStourgeon, the acclaimed pastry chef and owner of Monarch & the Milkweed, as well as Michael Calascibetta, the head of their beer program. We couldn't think of anyone we would rather partner with for such a project.
For this particular beer we found inspiration in the "Cannelé," Andrew's favorite pastry. Notoriously difficult to make, and layered with flavor, the development of a beer that properly represented the intricacies of the Cannelé took time and certain translational liberties. The result was conditioned with Monarch's house-made caramelized sugar, hazelnut praline, and brown butter rum-soaked vanilla beans. We hope you enjoy

Tap. Mule Bar, Winooski, VT. Black. Fine, tight, lasting, tan head. Nose has praline. Coffee cream chocolate. Chewy toffee. Dark roast coffee bean. Taste is moderately sweet, with a soft, nutty, dark chocolate bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel. Pretty viscous. Fine carbonation. Drinks easy at the ABV. Lingering, light bitterness to finish. Nice.
