Salt of the earth. That’s how we’d describe the good, honest people who work in Gertie’s Cafe in Walkley, Sheffield. So much so, their mighty salted caramel flapjack inspired us to reinterpret this divine slice into a heavenly beer.

Bottle. Walkley Beer Co., Sheffield. Slow gusher. Hazy amber colour. All the sediment ends up in the glass, wanted or not. Thick, foamy, yeast ridden, pale beige head. Nose has toasted malts. White chocolate. Some peanut. Some vanilla bean and milk chocolate. Taste is fruity, malty sweet. Thin, watery mouthfeel, not helped by the over carbonation. Finishes thin, light sweet, with a fruity, tangy bitter close. Smells ok, but I can’t imagine the brewer fully intended this!
