Malt focused, made with five types of grain including Vienna and Munich malts – plus a secret extra malt that we use only in our Prosit! Consider this bomber to be the burly big brother to our Clipper City MarzHon, a three year in a row winner at the Great American Beer Festival. We’ve balanced the sweetness of the malt with three kinds of hops making this one of the boldest marzen style lagers you’ll ever try.

Bottle thanks to Burg326: Poured a hazy burnt orange to copper with a creamy off white head. Aroma was very malty. Taste was smooth with loads of malts, but lacked depth in the body. A drinking beer but not a show stopper overall.

Bomber from Charleston Beer Exchange. Pours deep copper with a creamy/bubbly beige head. Smells like smooth caramel with some detectable herby hop. Med body. Flavor is caramel, but not sticky, and there’s some grassy/herby hop. Very light touch of heat. It’s pleasing to drink, and though sweeter than not, it seems near balanced.

Nice deep copper coloured body with an amber/ruby glow and a thin tan head. Aroma of fresh malt, caramel, nuts and a bit of toffee - definitely a marzen in the nose. Medium-bodied; Pungent, deep, bittering malt up front with some toffee and nuts tossed in, followed by a little spice. Aftertaste is potent and showing a lot of alcohol, some malt and a mostly earthy, toffee taste. Overall, pretty much what the label says - a stronger marzen than typical, which has it’s pros (more of the taste against a usually mild style) and it’s cons (stronger bitterness solely from the malt and perhaps too much alcohol). I think it’s a well crafted beer, but i’d take a typical marzen over this. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Bon Vivant Market in Smithfield, Virginia on 14-October-2010 for US$7.15, sampled at home in Washington on Mid-Term Election Tuesday 02-November-2010.

Pours dark gold into a stein. White head quickly recedes leaving spot lacing. Dusty caramel and bready nut aromas. Sweet roasted nuts and caramel from front to back - well hidden abv.

Pours a deep gold with a white head. Perfumy aroma. Rich malt flavors with a nice hops finish. Not exactly a "hoppy" flavor but rather a pleasant bitter bite that wards off any sticky sweetness that would detract from the overall experience. nice brew.

On tap at Capital Ale House - Downtown on 09/10/2009. Clear amber body with a large frothy off-white head. Sweet caramel and toasty malt flavor with a bit of alcohol. Sweet caramel, toasty malt, and more alcohol. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Alcohol is a bit out of balance here, but seems great in the oak chipped version.

Bomber. Amber body. Frothy, off-white head, mostly diminishing. Aroma of sweet malts, caramel, grass, herbs, toasted grain. Hint of spiciness. the flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium to full body, smooth texture, moderate carbonation. Floral taste at the end combined with alcohol warming. Expected this to be sweet because it is described by Clipper City as an imperial Oktoberfest. But the malts could be tamed a little better. Easy enough drinker, though.
