If you dream of wheat this brew will get your toes tapping. Since 1995 we have brewed Bavarian style wheat beers exclusively for the same great state that grows and malts our own Wisconsin wheat. In a world full of posers this is a true hefe-weizen naturally 100% bottle fermented and hazy.
Expect this beer to cascade effervescent into your glass. The rich spicy clove and cinnamon notes will greet your nose while sweet fruit and wheat kisses your lips.
Lick the foam from your mouth and admit sometimes you just gotta get up and dance.

And in this corner is the Wisconsin Walloper (Dancing Man Wheat) weighing in at 7.2% and in the other corner the Bavarian Bomber (Weihenstephaner Hefe Weiss) weighing in at 5.4%. I had these beers back to back and rated accordingly. Refrigerated bottle poured into a weizen glass complements of cbfobes. Pours cloudy golden with big white head that dies down some. Aroma is clove, highly carbonated, slick texture, and great lacing. Taste is estery malt (mostly clove, some banana, and a hint of cinnamon). This is hands down the heavy weight champion of american hefeweizens, but weihenstephaner edges out this beer in my book.

Yay! Another New Glarus beer! This one from thetomG from Secret Santa Winter 10. Pours a hazy reddish amber color with a large white frothy head. Good head retention and lacing. Bready, yeasty aroma with stone fruits, pineapple and some peppery notes and caramel. The taste is fruity as hell, with tons of citrus, banana and tropical fruits. Some yeasty notes and some husky grainy notes in the finish. A bit of bubblegum as well. Medium bodied. The yeast esters are running all amok in this one. Pretty good beer.

I picked up a 12 oz bottle from the New Glarus Brewery, enjoyed while sitting around bored at the house on a Saturday watching college football. Upon pour, this has a huge head, had to let it subside before pouring the rest into the glass. Appearance is a vibrant gold that’s cloudy with a large head. Aroma of clove, banana, with slight hints of bubble gum and cinnamon. This has an excellent mouth feel, not sour at all and not too sweet, balanced very well. The cinnamon comes out a little more in the taste and the aforementioned ingredients are prominently displayed. I’m also getting a slight (very slight) backing of vanilla in the mixture. This is definitely an excellent Hefeweizen, has a lot going on in a style that is one of my favorites but typically a straight-forward style. This adds something to the style.

Courtesy of markwise. Pours hazy gold with white head. The aroma is grains moving into wheat, sweet banana and a hint of malts as well as some sweet apples and pears. The taste is smooth goodness with smooth sweet banana, bubble gum and some tasty grains. Into the finish the sweet smooth banana and grains come into contact with a faint rauch malt note. Wow! I love this stuff. It is full of flavor and complexity and easy drinking blended smoothness.

Bottle shared by John, thanks! Pours hazy gold with some cascading yeast and a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice wheat note with a bit of sweetness and some light clove underlying. Flavor has a nice wheat note throughout with a bit of sweetness and a touch of clove backing.

Another NG from allendod. Thanks! I begin to believe NG is one of the best brewers. That’s based on a small sample of 2 til now. Pours hazy gold with a fourfinger white head. Aroma of banana ester and clove spice. Near medium body with frothy carbonation. Wow. The flavor reminds of Mexican chocolate - without the chocolate - so that’s cinnamon. So much it’s like licking the bark. Clove and banana follow. A very flavorful hefe. Though the wheat isn’t all that detectable. Just great.

Bottle. Hazy deep gold body with a big frothy white head that slowly diminishes. Aroma of banana, wheat, bready yeast, clove and bubble gum with a touch of orange and lemon. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, lightly bitter and moderately tart. A bit of plastic taste shows up in the finish as well. Medium to full body, slick texture and moderate carbonation. This is a thick, rich hefe which is on the sweet side, but finishes nicely tart. Very good.
