A Rauch Beer lager brewed in the true Bamberg tradition. Smooth, assertive and well balanced. This beer was the winning recipe from the Norwegian homebrewer’s championship in 2011. We appreciate the fact that Erlann Eldorsen came to brew with us! Ingredients: Pilsnermalt, peated malt, crystal malt, Munich malt, hallertau and Tettnang hops, German lager yeast and Grimstad water.

Flaske 0,5l fra Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget. Batch 677. Dyp amber. OK luftig, litt farget skum som fester seg til glasset. God røykaroma med innslag av krydder. Myk munnfølelse, Smak av røkt torv. Ikke påtrengende. Litt syrlig. Tørr syrlig ettersmak. Avslutter tørt. Godt balansert. Et "snilt" røykøl. Mye sedimenter igjen i flaska.

Bottle 500ml.Clear medium to dark brown colour with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate, bonfire smoke, light smoke. Flavour is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, roasted, chocolate, smoke, plastic - bonfire smoke, peppery. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Bottle from The Bottle Shop. Drunk on train from Walmer to Ashford after visiting Plough at Ripple. Always travel well prepared. Very deep brown colour with lasting dark beige head. Smoked game aroma. Not sausage or bacon but way gamier in the meat smoke stakes here. Touch of peaty whisky smoke. Rich in the mouth. Smooth too. Rich smokey and mysterious. Some molasses and coal tar. Like licking a bikers leather jacket thats been made of venison hide. Rather stunning if I am being honest. Almost as stunning as view over Dover coming in by train. It has great finesse for such a beer. Finish has more of the smoke some toffee and some ashtray smokiness. Bit like a bikers pub at the end of the night. Yes leather and ashtray and smoked venison. A beer I wont forget in a hurry. Entertaining. Smooth slightly sweet toffee malt in mouth

Pours dark brown with a smooth white head. Aroma of light smoke, roasted malts, wood and hops. Taste is quite bitter with notes of light smoke, wood and milk. Some tartness, too. Finish has some fruity and bitter notes, with some lactic tartness. A bit too lightly smoked and slightly unbalanced.

Aroma has smoke, some tar and dunkel-like malt. Feels german. Flavour is smoky and somewhat sour with tar and lactic acid. Also some wood and ash. Good, but the lactic sourness does not fit here. It overrides the smoke after some sips.

(Draught at Pikkulintu. 20120122) The beer poured very dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, smoke and molasses. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were smoke, roasted malts, malts, hops, molasses and bitterness. Aftertaste was smoky, malty and bitter. A decent German style smoked beer with a bit too intense bitterness.
