Santa's Swallie is a fine example of the tradition of brewing Christmas beers that was once prevalent in the UK and is still very popular in other northern European countries. The word 'Yule' is derived from 'ale' as beer was used to celebrate the winter solstice throughout the years.

Takie sobie przecietne piwo. Spodziewalem sie sporo lepszych wrazen. Piana spora i trwala ale zapach prawie rzaden. Smak rozwodnionego bittera z lekka nuta przypraw zimowych i cynamon gdzies daleko w tle. Poza mikolajem pijanym na etykiecie nic sezonowo-zimowego nie moglem sie doszukac. Piwo jest gorzkie i bardzo rozwodnione. Belgijskie swiateczne piwa sa chyba poza konkurencja, a temu do nich bardzo daleko.

Bottle at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear, medium amber, with a big white frothy head and lots of long-lasting lace. The aroma is rich, malty and with hints of resin. The flavour is weak bitter, smooth and malty. The finish is bitter and the malt hangs around too. Serve cool in the Asian heat or warm in front of log fire in an English pub!

New Beer Distributors, New York 50cl ($5): Pours a hazy copper color with an off-white head. Aroma is English hops, malt, and spice. Taste is all Christmas spice over a relatively generic body. Nothing special. Meh.

First rating: Medium beige head. Clear amber body with light carbonation. Spicy cinnamon and lavender aroma with perfumy fruity notes. Dryish spicy lavender taste with cinnamon and cardamom notes. Mid-bodied. Slightly hot, prickling mouthfeel. Dryish dried fruit and paper aftertaste with herbal dusty lavender notes. Not bad, but a bit too spiced and artificial. (0.5l bottle, Meny Oslo City.) 6,4,6,2,13 = 3.1
Second rating: Big offwhite head. Clear amber body. Fruity spicy cloves aroma with herbal sandalwood notes. Sweetish spicy sandalwood taste with cinnamon and clove notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish wooden resiny fruity aftertaste with cinnamon notes. It’s not bad, but a bit much spice. (0.5l bottle, from ... I forget where.) 6,4,6,3,12=3.1

Fra flaske på Cardinaltreff des-12: som en golden ale med litt krydder. Kort ettersmak. Et typisk session beer, men allikevel bedre enn standard pøseøl.
