Santa's Swallie is a fine example of the tradition of brewing Christmas beers that was once prevalent in the UK and is still very popular in other northern European countries. The word 'Yule' is derived from 'ale' as beer was used to celebrate the winter solstice throughout the years.

Available during December, Santa’s Swallie, is a dark copper coloured Christmas ale, traditionally hopped with Fuggles and a hint of seasonal nutmeg and cinnamon.

Skum/kullsyre: Tynn hinnne skum, heng langs kant.

50cl Bottle, thanks to my in-laws! Just slightly hazy golden orange/amber colour, white head. Aroma of nutmeg, some faded cinnamon, pale malts. Flavour is also lots of nutmeg, cinnamon, clove powder, grain, bitter powdery finish. Light-bodied. OK, but a little heavy on the spice, becomes a bit cloying after a while.
