Bottle, gift from Andrew. Hazy amber/brown body with a thin beige head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of brown sugar and earth. Flavour of rust, whisky and earth with a slightly sour note (not unpleasant) on the finish. Thin to medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. The barrel ageing has imparted a subtle woody/whisky note. It’s a tasty beer, if a little thin.

Keg at MSBH. It pours mahogany brown with a small beige head. The aroma is sweet, unctuous, oily, umami, fruity whisky, raisin, sultana, cherry, liquorice, raspberry leaf, cherry drops, jammy, victoria sponge cake and bakewell tart. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, juicy, jammy, cherry compote, dried fruits, raisin, sultana, fruity whisky, warming alcohol, nice brown bread malt base, tannin, umami from the whisky, liquorice, definite Fettercairn vibes, toothy, chewy, light spice and some tannin with a touch of warmth through the finish.. Medium - fulsome body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Burnside's best for sure. Lovely depth and balance.
