The J17 South African IPA is single-hopped to explore the raw naked flavours of this new hop from South Africa. First labelled "ScAB experimental hop 98J1763”, the hop is now simply called “J17". It has a unique spicy, floral nose and a peppery aroma with a long aftertaste.

Keg at Port St. It pours cloudy sunset orange with a small white head. The nose is fresh, juicy, soft tangerine, orangina, honeysuckle and candied peel. The taste is bitter, soapy lemon, orange peel, waxy rind, some earth, toasty grain, grassy and mild hop astringency with a dry, waxy finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Aroma is quite juicy, but the taste although rather bitter lacks depth.
