Bottle from Buchanan’s Bistro. Opens with a bit of a gush, but that’s probably my fault for not letting it settle long enough after transportation. It pours cloudy amber with an effervescent off-white head. The aroma is that of a well spiced fiery ginger beer, with earth, wood, ginger root, peppery spice, chilli almost, some sweet orange and soft cardamom. The taste is bitter-sweet upfront, then rather spicy, fiery ginger beer, earthy, cardamom, almost smokey, medicinal in nature and a hit of citrus peel with a dry, mildy spiced finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Rather unique stuff. A proper grown-up ginger beer. I doubt it will be for everyone, but I rather like it. Another winner from these guys!
