Bottle from Drankenspeciaalzaak Jelle, Leeuwarden. Aroma is particularly spicy yeast with thick grain, ripe fruity notes, some apricot, and plenty of spices. Flavour is medium sweet and moderate bitterbitter. Good medium plus body, has a nice thick grainy sturdiness. Pleasant Kuit.

Fles thuis geprobeerd met Roelzie1986. Het is een troebel oranje geel bier met een dun laagje wit schuim. Het heeft een moutige wat haver achjtige geur en smaak.

‘Koytbier’ or ‘kuitbier’ from this Frisian microbrewer, bottle found at a drinks store in the Flemish Kempen region. Very intricately cobweb-lacing, large-bubbled, egg-white, thick and somewhat irregular head, very lightly orangey-peach golden blonde robe. Aroma of sweet cloves and liquorish candy, honey, gingerbread, sweet curry, cherry tomatoes, ripe mandarin, pumpkin soup, pineapple, touch of rusty oxidation already setting in. Fruity, estery onset, pineapple and peach impressions, fizzy carbonation; sweet middle, residual honeyish sugars over a pale malt sweetish body, bread and soft with a thin caramelly edge. As expected from anything labelled as a ‘kuitbier’, the finish is aromatized by outspoken herbalness, bitterish and sweetish at the same time in this case, reminiscent of old dry liquorish, clove, coriander seed (soapy!) and vague cardamom. This sweetish, bit ethereal spiciness does add a very mild astringency in the end, but compared with e.g. many Belgian Christmas and winter beers, remains well-behaved and subtle enough not to completely overpower the fruitiness and maltiness of the actual beer. Spice beers are normally not my cup of tea, but when executed in a tasteful, restrained and balanced way like in this ‘kiwi’, I can certainly appreciate them. Not a bad effort at all.

Bottle @ home. A bit unclear orangy color, small white head. Smell and taste malts, malt bitter, a rather weird sort of tart-bitterness in the aftertaste. I don't like it very much. Rather dry as well. Nah.

Tap at Rootz Festival. Hazy golden with very big white head. Lots of herbs, sage, thyme, sweet malts, light yeast, rosemary, sugary, light meaty sort of. Funny. Over medium sweet and medium bitter. Over medium bodied.

Bottle from het Biermoment. Slight hazy golden color, medium frothy head. Aroma is very grainy, bit cereal even, slight grassy hop. Some bitterness in taste, bit sweet grainy malt. Well balanced brew, good for the style actually. I liked it.
