Brewed in the tradition of English-style barley wines, Cereal Killer offers an explosion of full-bodied, liquid goodness. Robust malty flavors converge with caramel, toffee, molasses and dark fruit notes to produce a remarkably complex and palate-pleasing beer. Its intense malt character is complemented by a subtle citrus finish from the Crystal hops. With cellar-aging, Cereal Killer’s
flavor evolves further, developing a sherry-like aroma and flavor similar to a cask-aged port. Winner of the Silver Medal for Barley Wine Style Ale at
the 2007 GABF.

Pour is a murky brown with a small tan head. Aroma is nice. Lots of caramel and toffee with some dark fruit with an even so present touch of alcohol. Flavor is equally as good. Creamy and sweet with notes of dark chocolate and caramel. Fruit then make an appearance, I want to say maybe plum. Finish is again sweet with some alcohol as it goes down. A very nice example of the style.

2009-11-12, bottle at Monk’s Café, Stockholm, 7-4-8-4-15=37
Hazy brown color. Caramel aroma and flavor, quite sweet, medium bitterness, but also light aroma of over-ripe apples.
2007-07-03, 7-4-8-4-16=39
Beautiful ruby-amber color, hazy; big head. The aroma is malty and hoppy, medium. The malty flavor is very strong, sweet as well, with a lot of sweet caramel, warming alcohol, correct bitterness for this brew; the hop qualities are there but hidden. Balanced Strong Ale, good.

Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet with very powerful notes of over ripe fruit, alcohol, berries, malt, and caramel. The flavor is very sweet with a good deal of alcohol, but also with notes of over ripe fruits and caramel, as well as a light alchol burn on the palate. The massive sweetness makes it a bit cloying. Thanks Alex (fiulijn).

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of fiulijn. Vintage 2006. Pours a clear, orangey brown with a yellowish brown head. Sweetish caramel nose. Quite full-bodied with sweet and lightly burned caramel and a wee edge of aroma hops. Sweetish finish with also some nutty accents appearing. The finish is very subdued. Nothing flashy here but quite pleasant really. 030707

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a mahogany color with a large brown head. The aroma was sweet and tangy with a fruity hop element and a hint of caramel. The flavor was sweet malts, caramel and light fruity hops underneath. The mouthfeel was fairly thick as expected from a barleywine. It hides the alcohol reasonably well.

bottle - Pours dark amber with a thin, enduring head. It smells of malts, dark fruit, and a touch of alcohol. The flavor has caramel malts, dark fruit, and some big hops that kick in particularly in the finish. It’s medium bodied with light carbonation. I really enjoyed this one.

Ok I guess I will be the first to bash this beer. Had it last night on tap at Spuyten Duyvil. Poured into IKEA wine glass. Absolutely no head to speak of or lacing. An extremely dark ruby color. Aroma is very present, too sweet cherry with alcholic sherry. Nody is thin yet mouthfeel is syrupy. Weird. Taste is alcoholic sweetness with a strong bitterness. I was looking forward to trying this but very disappointed.

Deep burgundy pour, with a medium-sized ring of lace - rather spicy, almost peppery aroma, with loads of caramel, vanilla, and a slight hint of rum - somewhat thin-bodied for the style, but a non-cloying sweetness and rather strong spice character almost make up for this - hints of plum and black cherry - a mild woody/vanilla/bourbon flavor develops near the end, but is short-lived - this stuff would be great if it had more body, but as it is, it’s just "good."
