Brewed in the tradition of English-style barley wines, Cereal Killer offers an explosion of full-bodied, liquid goodness. Robust malty flavors converge with caramel, toffee, molasses and dark fruit notes to produce a remarkably complex and palate-pleasing beer. Its intense malt character is complemented by a subtle citrus finish from the Crystal hops. With cellar-aging, Cereal Killer’s
flavor evolves further, developing a sherry-like aroma and flavor similar to a cask-aged port. Winner of the Silver Medal for Barley Wine Style Ale at
the 2007 GABF.

Hazy reddish dark amber with tiny beige head. Sweet aroma with overripe fruits, caramel and chocolate notes. Sweet flavour with overripe fruits, caramel and hoppy notes towards the end. Plenty of roasted malt. Warming alcohol in the finish.

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Mahogany colour, minimal head. lactic cherry aroma with some caramel. Sweet and fruity with a tart, yoghurt-like component. Full bodied and thick, a bit syrupy. Floral resiny hops sets in late and gives shampoo flavour, black currant and resiny bitterness. A barleywine with some highlights, but also a lot of drawbacks.

22 oz bottle, 2006 vintage. Pours red brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is a very strong sweet caramel, with some alcohol. Flavor is again the sweet caramel up front, then some alcohol, bread (or the titular cereal), and roastiness comes in. Hops only really come through in the bitter finish, along with a kind of stale bread flavor. A few things are a little off, but still quite enjoyable.

22 oz bottle. Pours bronze colored and cloudy with a thin head that does not last. Aromas of wheat and root beer. Very sweet. Hops are there, but do not come close to balancing out this beer. This is an ok sipping beer now, but I fear what will happen by the end of the bottle.

On tap at the barley wnie tasting at the Bocktown, nice place. Clean aroma, perhaps some fruit. Does not smell like most barleywines I’ve sampled. It lacks that big ale sweetness in the olfactory. Appearance is slightly cloudy and decently dark. Big choco mousse head. Barely any carbonation on the palate. Weird flavor that is very unique. Morphs immediately from mild to alky wild. Quite an experience. The finish after each sip is dangerously alky. Overall, perhaps a bit milder than most barley wines but it still exhibits the big barly wine alkly impact that is so common with this style.

Bomber pours clear amber with inch and a half tan head. It has a citrus hard candy aroma, cherry candies and raisins. The taste has that same fruity hard candy noted in the nose with sweet citrus, cherry and grapes. Then an undercurrent of mild caramel sweetness runs right up to the finish and into the aftertaste.

2006 ...Medium brown w/ red highlights....dark tan head.....smells fruity and malty....creamy body, very well balanced...strawberries and grains, toasty and soft....a hint of alcohol on the finish (faint) but well disguised in the sweetness of the finish

Bottle on DLD at Hampton Inn tasting courtesy of patrick767. This makes a thin tan head over a clear, medium dark amber body. Candy malt aroma. It hints at several things, but never fully explores them. The flavor is mostly sweet, again lacking real depth, and is delivered on a slightly thin plaate.
