Bottle. Pours murky brownish black with small light brown head. Aroma is rye bread, sour dough, Vegemite and "øllebrød". Taste is initial very sweet then medium acidic and light bitter. Body is milky to oily with soft sparkling carbonation. Finish is long and sweet with notes of sugar, lactose, fudge, rye bread, dough, cinnamon, cocoa, light orange and sweet grapefruit, overripe plum, hints of nuts and mint. Very sweet but it’s not nauseating - has some resemblance to milk stouts. Surprisingly good and different than your average Christmas ale!

Tap at the Cask, Pimlico, 06/12/13. Dark mahogony brown with a moderate tan covering. Nose is fruit cake, spice, cloves, dark fruits, brown sugar. Taste comprises a stewed dark fruit mash, Xmas cake, nuts, figs, dates, light cocoa, touch of booze. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, warming alcohol in the finale. One of the better Xmas beers I’ve encountered, alcohol well integrated, decent enough drop.

Smak och doft av humle, malt, karamell, julmust, nejlika, torkad frukt, brunt socker med aningar av laktris. Alldeles för sötsliskig för min smak.

On tap @ Henrik. This is a deep dark brown one - some redness shining through when holding it against the light and it a small sidesticking beige tip. Nice spicy non-extreme aroma with mint and star anise, Christmas decoration and some cocoa. Nice stuff. It has a silky smooth mouthfeel this with a small prickling carbonation level. I have to say impressive. So, the taste has more mint and star anise. Cocoa nibs with dark sweet caramel and candied sugar. Quite tasty this. No traces of the ABV. Chocolate paper traces in the lightly mouthdrying finish. Enjoyable. 08.12.2012

On tap at Henrik, Bergen. Pours a hazy deep reddish brown colour with a medium beige and creamy head. Nice sweetness in the aroma along with dades, wood, chocolate truffles and caramel malt. Powerful taste of berries and lots of anis with leather and chocolate in the aftertaste. Surprisingly light and slick mouthfeel, and a light bitterness. Feels a bit fresh and think this would be better with a year in the beer cellar. Still it has a nice spicy touch and the alcohol is well camouflaged.

Bottle, 9%. Sweet and fruity aroma, berries, a bit like strawberry, but probably is not. Hint of yeast aroma. Black colour with a red shine, seems slightly cloudy. Good frothy light brown head. The flavour starts off citric, turning much more roasted in the finish. A quite sweet and fruity beer with a rather astringent bitterness.
