Port City aged Metro Red, its double red ale brewed with Amarillo hops, in limited edition lemon-wash Amaro delle Sirene barrels from their friends at Don Ciccio & Figli. The amaro’s complex botanical aroma and herbal bitterness supplements the beer’s juicy balance of citrusy hops and malty backbone. Limited edition, draft only.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a dark, cloudy amber-red color with a small, wispy off-white head. Aroma had light mint, herbal notes that reminds me of juniper, anise and a healthy dose of Fernet - a little woody with the tiniest amount of dark chocolate. A little strange - not highly drinkable, but just fine.
