* Old rating, best before 29.01.2011. Many thanks to kevnic 2008. Karamellig-braunes Bier, leicht süßlich, etwas dünn.

50cl can (4%) from a supermarket in Vilnius. Pours clear dark brown with a small tan head. Sugary, caramely and mildly malty aroma with some lightly roasty notes and hints of dark fruits. Sweet carbonised caramel water with a lightly bitter finish. Horribly boring, but nothing wrong with it.

Pours brown with a lacy, light beige head. Aroma of caramel malts plus light hops and a lot of tin. Average texture.

Tall clear half litre bottle found in Cambridge, England: reviewed two weeks after its best before date in Jan 2012. Poured twice into a Palm badged tulip: the beer is a lovely dark ruby red and on top sits a deep tan coloured head. The smell is sweet molasses, buckets of them, roasted caramel and toffees. The taste follows the nose, a sweet malty flavour with no or very little hop infussion to be found. On the thin side for such a good looking dark beer and just a bit too sugary for my taste, even though I normally prefer the maltier, sweeter brews. Glad I found it, along with a few other Baltic/Eastern European bottles while visiting Cambridge.

Bottle. It pours a beautiful crystal clear dark reddish brown body under a dense, finger-thick light beige head. The aroma is a bit weak, with dried fruits, toffee and a faint touch of dms. Weak, but pleasant. The flavor is roasted and toffeeish, quite dry on the palate, medium to full body. A bit one dimensional, but quite tasteful. Overall, a quite decent beer, I guess it would shine with some appropriate food. 111126
