The second Illuminati release of 2015 is a complex beast indeed, and we think it was worth the extra time it took to get it to its destination. What we have for you is a rye whiskey barrel aged imperial stout finished on ancho peppers and cocoa nibs. The result is a robust beer with real depth & multi layered flavor profiles. It presents you with smoky notes of pepper and rye balanced with rich chocolate tones. A creamy mouthfeel allows the different flavor components to dance all over your tongue leaving behind pleasant reminders and a slightly warming finish.

750ml bottle, cork. Poured a hazy brown color with a small, almost non-existent off-white head. Aroma was very light tartness, rye notes. Some vanilla, woody notes. Pretty decent.

Light whiskey and some light chocolate. Black pour with ok head. Aged oxidation. Caramel. Thinner than the original like weight watchers worked. Bottle.

750 ml bottle shared by a friend, thanks Ben! Dark brownish black with light tan head. Aromas of cheap whiskey, roasty notes, light soy, subtle coconut. Tastes of dark chocolate, whiskey, subtle peppers, caramel, light vanilla. Medium body with a dry finish.

750ml bottle pours a thick, deep brown with some cloudy, tan head. Nose has chocolate, some earthy tobacco leaf, raisin, licorice, coffee. Flavor is all chocolate, some cola, a little molasses, dark brown sugar. The prick of black pepper hits the tip of my tongue at the end. Semi-creamy finish. A bit thin. Not enough of everything.
