Quercus Vitis Humulus is our brewer’s tribute to the mighty oak, luscious grape, and humble hop. Our homage begins with a bold 27 degree plato barley wine ale, warm fermented with Bohemian lager yeast which we then blended with French grape juice and fermented in a second time with pure culture of Champagne yeast. When our brewers thought this intricate brew was complete, they aged it on lightly toasted French Oak. The six week journey through our brewery results in a deeply complex ale. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed brewing it.

Bottle shared by Mike I think, thanks for the opportunity! Deep amber with a reddish hue and a small bubbly white head that dissipates quickly. Sweet bready maltiness with hints of caramel and toffee. Big grape fruity flavor with faint vanilla and earthy oak. Interesting brew for sure, glad I got to try it, but thinking it might be on its way downhill.

Bottle 22fl.oz.Clear medium orange amber colour with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate hoppy, grass. Flavour is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a average to long duration, caramel, burnt sugar - caramel, sweet caramel. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20111031]

Aroma: Caramel, grapes and spices
Taste: Sweet caramel, grapes with a sweet dry finish
Decent, not sure about being a BW though.

22 ounce bottle, origin forgotten. Pours a clear copper color with a large frothy offwhite head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, peach, grapes, some tropical notes and a bit of breadiness. The taste is toasted malts, caramel, cherries, grapes, stone fruits, a faint bit of hoppiness. Medium bodied. Tasty beer.

trade with forgetful. cloudy brown, small white head. aroma is stale hops, faint woody notes. barley wineish. flavor is caramel, wood, booze. quite complex, but not treally anything really special. still pretty good tasting and one of those beers You would spend ome time with.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours a cloudy amber with a dense and lacing off-white head. Sweet overripe fruit in the nose, somewhat oxidized. Solid body, sweet caramel, fruit and a very oxidized character. Quite some hops in the finish. A strange bird indeed. But nothing Belgian about this, more of a Barley Wine - if anything. 030511

22 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy brown with a small tan head. Aroma is toasted and malty. Dry malty and thick malty. caramelish and slight slight spiced. Phenolic and dry malty into the finish. Ends dry and spiced.

Bottle coutesy of Butters on 03/05/2010. Hazy orange amber body with a medium creamy off-white head. Sweet fruit and caramel aroma with a floral hop note. Sweet fruit flavor, caramel, sugar, and floral hop flavor. Medium body with moderately high carbonation.

Bomber from Oak Tree. Pours amber with a foamy 1 finger off-white head. Sweet roast malt aroma - it’s hitting me like a barley wine there. And there’s wood. Medium plus body with mild and creamy carbonation. Flavor is woody grape. Near musty. With lots of roast malt. Hop? Must be floral. Overall it’s complex, tasty and just plain delicious. No heat til it hit my tum. Finishes pretty woody. There’s grape notes throughout. Brilliant. Note: Suddenly it goes farmhouse funky. Maybe dirty feet stomped the grapes. :) [so a +1 overall]
