Draught at Rattle and Hum. Poured brown with mild head. First, let me just say wow. this was surprisingly bad. I mean really. It basically was this slightly sweet, very badly herbed up version of a doppelbock. Honestly I could not even finish it and I have finished some crap-ass beers in my time. As far as doppelbocks go - severely lacking. No malt or bread, just sick awful overripe figs or some other craptastic veg or fruit. Avoid like the plague. Bubonic style.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Barrel from 2008. Poured a hazy brown-gold with a light, white head. A swee, nutty, lighly roasted malt aroma. Lots of chestnut and brown sugar in the flavor. Medium in body, a littly syrupy with moderate thickness. Finishes with lingering malty sweetness, plenty of chestnut. Good, deep flavor with a complex and sweet character. A nice beer that stands up well with age.

Tap at Mugs - hazy dark copper - very sweet, moderately doughy aroma, with notes of unidentifiable fruitiness - very sweet, nearly cloying flavor, with some balancing herbal bitterness - honey and caramel - notes of cherry - overall too sweet to enjoy the other aspects fully.
