Oct ’14. On tap at the brewpub. Didn’t expect to be first rater of this seasonal, too. It poured hazy orange body with medium sized head. Very nice weizenbock aroma with fine notes of banana, caramel, other fruits and very light orange and herbal hops. Flavor was a step down, decent sweetness was there, but it was weak and light. Fine (subtle) chalk yeasty, also fruity wheat and toasted malt notes simply couldn’t get too much attention. Some bitterness was balancing it up, it started nicely rounded, but ending weird, although not necessarily bad. Just, for me at least, really really weird. Finish was almost entirely bitter, citrus. Definitely too light for the style, but an interesting stronger wheat.
