This mahogany-coloured best bitter has been brewed especially for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival. It has a floral blackcurrant-hedgerow aroma and a soft, spicy, peppery bitterness, followed by a smooth, warming finish.

Cask, handpump at The James Figg, Thame, Oxon 16.12.10 Pours dark chestnut with off-white head. A touch thin in the mouth, medium bitterness, touch of caramel, don’t get the spice, in fact it’s a fairly run of the mill beer for Vale. Ok A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov12 3.0
