On tap at City Taphouse. Pours a watery brown with a ring of white head. Nose is standard for the style, some wet malts, caramel, toffee, a little detritus. Flavor is just flabby with malt, a little cocoa powder, some caramel, dirt. Watery finish. Uninspired.

Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is a nice rich roasted nutty creamy malt. Flavor in a big chewy and chccolate malt with a very minor bitterness toward the end of the swallow. A decadently rich and flavorful malt puts this one over the top. If more brown ales were made like this I would drink more brown ales.

On tap at Bailey’s. Pours a dark brown with a hint of an amber hue and a grayish brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a touch of bitterness with dark grains and a hint of roast underlying. Flavor has more sweetness from a cookie note with a dark grain backbone.
