Winner of the 2008 GABF Silver Medal and 2009 Gold Metal for German-style Kölsch. Light-bodied with a golden color and a distinctive smoothness making it a very refreshing summertime offering.

This open-fermented, easy-drinking German-style ale is hopped with experimental American hops as a twist on the traditional light-bodied beer. Pleasant citrus and floral notes add complexity without sacrificing supreme drinkability.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown squat bottle poured into a cup. Clear amber poured into a cup. Aroma is caramel malt, medium body, lower carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is caramel malt. Okterfest?

12oz bottle pours with a clear gold body that supports a thin white head of foam. The aroma offers up floral hop infused corn and then a faint lime note. The taste delivers an integrated blend of spicy, floral and slightly lime like hoppiness. To midway the malt base starts to surface with a bit of sweetness and corn. Decent interpretation of the style as it stays clear of becoming to sweet or heavy.

I always like a good kolsch, and this is a good kolsch, therefore, I like it. Pale gold, small head. Nose is floral hops, bready dough, a hint of resin. Light bodied, not watery, balanced with a soft bready malt, floral hop flavors, and light-med bitterness. Lingering noble hop flavors in the aftertaste, a tad spicy and grassy (in a good way).

Bottle from Albertsons. Poured into a stange. Pale golden with small foamy head. Aroma tells me this is done right, crackers, biscuits, light grains. Taste builds on this, crisp grainy flavors, mild hoppy snap finishes it. Spot on. Well done.

Weak aroma of malt. Golden with a thick white head. Tastes like a weizen without the banana/cloves accents. Crisp malt taste. Palate is simple, stays constant throughout the mouth. Worth trying, fairly drinkable.

No aroma. Shimmering golden with a greenish hue, thin head. Lemongrass and hint of coriander, grassy and minty noble hops. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Not bad, actually.

Bottle from the mixed twelve pack from Hannaford. Brilliantly clear dark yellow with a bubbly white head that persists. Bready crackery lightly toasted maltiness with a hint of fruitiness and earthy spicy floral hops to counter. Pretty nice Kolsch maybe a hint too heavy on the hops but it was my favorite of the mixed pack.

12 oz bottle from the Party Pack. This bottle has an ABV of 5.0% and the label looks different. Not sure if they changed the recipe or not. Aroma is grainy, bready, kind of lemony. Pours nearly crystal clear pale golden with a thick white head that recedes into a skiff of foam after a minute. Taste is lightly bittersweet with grainy flavors. Not bad.
