5/7/2026. Cask at The Peasants’ Tavern, North Walsham. A really good pint from Green Jack. Good body. Gives impression it’s stronger than the 4.0%. Beer (and pub) of the trip.

Cask (backlog). Deep goldeny/pale ambery colour with a small off-white creamy head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is caramel, some tropical fruits, mild bready and wooden notes. Flavour is resin, caramel, mild toasted notes as well as some fruity and mild berries to it. --- Beer merged from original tick of Excelsior Golden Ale on 13 Oct 2015 at 11:25 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Original review text: Cask (backlog). Golden colour, small white foamy head. Aroma is floral, mild honey, nectar, grass and some bready notes. Flavour is quite similar in a good balance. Balanced, and for once a refreshing and pleasant golden ale.

Cask@The Philarmonic, Liverpool. Clear dark amber colour with a small off white head. Pretty muted aroma with some sweet malts showing. A little sweetish fruit in the similarly malt led flavour which continued into the gently bitter finish. Inoffensive if a bit insipid.

On tap @ Haymarket Bar, Edinburgh. Pours amber with a nice proportional head. The nose has lemon and grapefruit pith. More lemon pith on the taste against a malty background. The palate has a medium body, is medium textured and has a nice clean finish. Overall, a good ale.
