We didn’t pass History class but we’re pretty sure that the American settlers were stoked to finally dust off their skis & surfboards when they got to Cali. This long journey led to the creation of the nourishing beverage known as West Coast DIPA. Hopped with Idaho 7, Nelson, Simcoe and Strata, this beer brings major guava and ganja aromas followed by a blast of chewy pine sap.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated March 06, 2023. Aroma is rather hop forward with lots of guava notes with lighter notes of passion fruit, tropical citrus, grapefruit and gooseberry. Medium light dank, pine resin notes. Light cracker malt notes with hints of alcohol. Pours a fairly clear, brilliant, golden orange with a medium sized, fairly thick, fluffy, white head that recedes slowly to a small film that lingers on the edges. Medium light lacing and small legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with medium cracker malt notes. Fairly strong bitterness with light alcohol notes. Lots of guava with light notes of passion fruit, gooseberry, tropical citrus and grapefruit. Medium light dank, pine resin notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid double IPA. Hop notes are a bit fruitier, but the mouthfeel and malt profile is fairly crisp. Good lingering pine notes and bitterness in the finish. Alcohol is well hidden.

Can from Ale Arsenal. Pours clear light gold with off-white head that retreats quickly. Aroma and flavor are overt dank and moderate pineapple. Alcohol is well hidden here as this is smooth and crushable for an 8.5er. As it warmed, some alcohol burn started to show.
