Poured from a 16 oz can dated November 30, 2020. Aroma is malt forward with solid notes of chocolate, roast, dark caramel, and toffee. Toasted breads and nuts round out the malt character. Light notes of herbal, spicy hops and hints of alcohol. Pours black with a medium large, thick, tan head that recedes steadily to a small film that lingers. Medium high lacing and no legs. Flavor has a light sweetness with a dry, slightly astringent finish. Moderately strong notes of chocolate and roast with lighter notes of dark caramel, toffee, toasted bread and nuts. Medium bitterness with light notes of herbal, spicy, woody hops. Hints of alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with a bit of a sticky, yet crisp finish and medium carbonation. Medium low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall a pretty decent dark lager. Nice malt character with balanced hop notes, bitterness and alcohol. A bit more astringent than it needs to be.
