A pulpy, tropical dream of a triple IPA. In a rare move here at PHP, we zeroed in on a primarily single variety loaded hop bill to showcase this year’s hand-selected mango-forward Citra hops from Loftus Ranches. We then threw in some Galaxy for good measure and a dash of Simcoe at a combined sum of 10+ lbs. of hops per barrel to bring it all home. Yielding some supremely sweet results in this latest foray into brewing high ABV, juice-driven IPAs. Flavors of ripe melon, pineapple and sticky mango are all anchored on a fluffy and pillowy mouthfeel, compliments of a malt bill centered on flaked barley, oats and wheat. A carefully chosen yeast strain, outside our usual house prop, provides a uniquely juicy profile adding to the lux mouthfeel rendered. The end result? A blending of two breweries hazy IPA stylings, hopping methods and fermentation techniques both new and familiar. “Emiliooooo!”

Poured from a 16 oz can dated June 12, 2020. Aroma is fairly hop forward and fruity with lots of tropical citrus, mango, pineapple, passion fruit and lighter resin notes and stone fruit. Light cracker malt notes and a bit of wheat and oat notes. Light alcohol notes. Pours a very hazy, murky, dull, yellow straw with a medium large, thick, fluffy, white head that recedes steadily to a small film that lingers. Light lacing and moderate length legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with light cracker malt notes and lighter notes of oats and wheat. Medium bitterness and light alcohol spice. Moderate notes of tropical citrus, mango, pineapple and lighter notes of dank resin and stone fruit. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice TIPA with quite a bit of nice hop notes. The malt profile is light, but it's just enough to carry the hops and alcohol.
