One of the original, new-style, pale ales to be brewed in the UK, Yankee™ is a modern classic. Light and easy-drinking, it’s a beer that showcases the floral and citrus fruit aromas of the Cascade hop, grown in the Yakima Valley in Washington State, USA, projected against a back drop of soft Yorkshire water and golden promise pale malt.

330ml can. Slightly cloudy yellow gold, small white frothy head, good retention. Lemon, citrusy, pale grainy malts on the nose. Quite fresh and light aroma. Taste is as per aroma, a nice tangy bitter finish. Light to moderate body, a bit sticky. Good pale.

Cask at Bull & Stirrup, Chester. Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a small foamy almost white head and good lacing. The aroma has bitter hops and hints of malt. In the mouth it is quite bitter but juicy with a mix of hops and citrus with some spicy traces. Some hints of berry fruits come through later leading to a dry and bitter finish. This is decidedly reasonable though a bit too much citrus for my palate.
