Growler pours out a black topped with a tan head. Nose is nice barrel notes vanilla roast malts coffee chocolate and some ash. Taste is more of the nice big roast chocolate vanilla barrel and a light smoke coffee.

Growler thanks to Schlais! Pours opaque black, medium brown creamy head that dissipates slowly leaving nice lacing. Really a great job with the growler fill too, btw. Aroma is roasted malt, oak, whiskey, anise, chocolate. Flavor is medium sweet, light bitter, chocolate, vanilla, touches of oak and anise, a whiskey feel to it. Just a bit of astringency from the oak. Medium plus body, creamy mouthfeel. Perhaps a tad bit hot. This turned out to be a really nice beer. Its not one of those beat you over the head, this one goes to 11 impys. It is restrained, balanced, smooth and clean, and it just all comes together nicely. Great job!@

Growler, sent from mista (thanks a lot, Geoff!), pours jet black with a small brown head - beautiful looking. Nose is luxurious, full of oak barrels, wood, high quality dark chocolate, roasted malt and a little vanilla. Flavour is remarkably complex and luxurious, with velvety chocolate, moderate wood, a bit of vanilla, and great use of the oak barrels. The woody oak notes are what is left lingering, along with some melted dark chocolate. Palate is velvety, as noted, with amazing complexity. The oak barrels are used perfectly, neither dominating nor barely noticeably - perfectly situated amongst everything going on. Carbonation is soft and well-suited for the flavour profile. An absolutely wonderful barrel-aged impie that lives up to its hype.

Pours oily viscous pitch black with a nice-looking frothy dark mocha head that slowly dissipates while sticking to the glass leaving some thick lacing on the glass. Smell is sweet and malty with roasted malts, quality dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, vanilla fudge, roasted coconut, charred wood, chocolate cake, black pepper, burnt caramel, toffee and sweet dark bread. Taste is sweet, bitter, tiny sour and malty with roasted malts, bitter chocolate, dark roast coffee, prunes, brown sugar, vanilla fudge, roasted caramelized nuts, pine, lemon zest, moist soil, moist wood and sweet dark bread. Mouthfeel is round, smooth, soft, silky and full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with roasted malts, dark quality chocolate, dark roast coffee, pumpernickel, dark honey, coconut, charred wood and vanilla fudge. If it wasn’t for the weird sourness this could have been the perfect beer.

Pitch black color, oily. Wonderful aroma, rich chocolate, roasted nuts, tobacco, leather, a hint of smoke and vanilla, phenol; powerful and persistent. Thick body, the mouthfeel is quite oily; strong flavor of chocolate and roasted malt, with an evident presence of liquorice; strong vanilla too, from the oak; some molasses; it’s not very sweet, the body is thinner in the end, when the alcohol is stronger, warming; roasted nuts final; if just one thing, the liquorice is too strong.
Chaotic but excellent.

75 cL bottle. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is dark roasted malty, wooden, vanilla and liqourice. Bitter, dark malty and liqourice. Smooth dark chocolate and dense malty. Light bitterness, vanilla and mild liqourice. Smooth dark roasted malty finish.
