Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. A clear, light amber beer with a small, dense, off-white head. Very weak on the nose, some hops and malts though. Far from bad though. The same goes for the flavor, it’s quite weak, but not bad in any way, and not much altbier-like. Medium body, slightly hard carbonation. A quite decent beer, but rather boring. 110819. n tap at Ramshead, Annapolis, MD. A clear, golden beer with a dense, off-whtie head. The aroma is lightly piney and alcholic, with caramel and bread. There’s a nice bitterness in the flavor, neatly supporting the bready, caramel malts. Pine cones in the back. It’s warming and full-bodied, and pleasantly carbonated. Lasting malty and piney finish with some alcohol warmth. Supposedly only 5% ABV, which surprised me a lot. 150621

Bottle @ FOneFan. Slightly hazy amber with medium white head. Flavour is malt, caramel, fruit, hops, toffee and a little bitter.

Bottle @ Danish Summer Gathering, Ulfborg 2011. Pours amber copper with a small off white head. Sweet malty. Vague roast and toffee. A bit of dust. Smooth and medium bodied.

Bottle from GBBF drunk at home. Clear copper coloured beer with lasting near white head. Almost an amber style beer. Wouldn’t have picked this as an alt. Reminds me of a particularly drinkable bitter. Yep it’s the kind of thing you could knock back pints of. Very drinkable if not huge or big or anything.

Draft @ Ramshead Tavern & Fordham Brewing Co, Annapolis, MD. Pours a pale copper color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel aroma with hoppy hints. Fruity malty caramel flavor. Has a fruity malty caramel finish.

Pours hazy amber/copper with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt and caramel. Taste is light to medium sweet and light to medium bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Merryweather Post Pavillion 24oz ($9.50): Pours a copper color with a white head. Aroma is of grassy hops, along withe some sugar. Taste is slightly bitter with some metallic notes. Hops have a definite presence, but are kept in check. Good malt backbone. Slightly sweet. A session ale for sure, and certainly not the best altbier I’ve had.

Sampled on draft at the World Beer Festival Richmond, 6/12/10. Pours a clear copper-gold color with a medium head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of grainy malts, hops and a slightly metallic note. The taste is hoppy with some fruity notes, caramel and faint grassy notes. Medium bodied.

Similar in style to a Sam Adams. Copperish pour. Nose and taste of barley, caramel, malts and hay. Rated 3/27/03
