Humpty Dumpty has made several appearances in history: as a cannon at the Siege of Colchester in the English Civil War; an ‘egg-otistical’ pedant in Alice Through the Looking Glass; and of course, the unfortunate star of a nursery rhyme. In most cases poor Humpty was left in pieces, though probably not from over-indulgence in this ale!
Our IPA, dangerously smooth at 5.8% ABV, is a warming, oaky-smoky tipple. Humpty has a slightly sweet floral nose, a balanced level of malt supporting the hops and finally a subtle but slightly citrusy finish.

Bottle from Oakchurch Farm Shop, Staunton on Wye, Herefordshire, consumed 23-09-09 Pours warm gold edging towards light amber with white head. Touch perfumey on the nose but backed up with some citrus, maybe some orange blossom. Flavour also had a slight perfume quality about it but really quite decent stuff, good malty base, even a little toffee mixed up with some citric bitterness, enjoyable. A6 A3 F7 P3 Ov14 3.3

Bottle conditioned from Bacchus, Crickhowell. Orangey-gold with no head and a touch of carbonation. Familiar Kingstone aroma of orange hops and earthy malts. Flavour was much the same, with a citrus, slightly American hop kick and a dry finish. Ok.
