Tavern Ale is top-fermented, making it an ale. It is a medium to full-bodied beer with a hoppy aroma. Tavern Ale is served unfiltered resulting in a hazy or cloudy appearance. It has a full malt finish with a well rounded bitterness. Tavern Ale is an American Pale Ale because of the large amounts of American hops which lends a distinct, almost citrusy flavor to the beer. Therefore, our Tavern Ales is quite different from the "spicy" or "herby" flavor of European hops.

Bottle, Ship and Mitre bottle shop, West Kirby. Amber pour with a restrained off white head. Some caramel and hoppage detected in the nose, and a similar story unfolded in the flavour. Some bitterness in the finish , nut no real punch there. Drinkable if largely unremarkable fayre.

12oz bottle, ABV 5.5%, from Westholme Stores, Goring. Poured dark amber with a ring of white head; caramel malt aroma with a touch of fruit; malty body, not too sweet, with some good hops making their presence felt immediately, and leaving a tingling finish. Good stuff.

Bottle. Beer of the month club. Slightly hazy deep amber color with a medium off-white head. Hoppy aroma with pine needles, citric notes and some caramel. Hoppy (somewhat piney) flavor with some sweet cookie-ish/caramelly malt and a pleasant bitter grapefruity finish. Medium-bodied. A decent APA.

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. A see-through, golden amber beer with a small, off-white head. The aroma has a foundation of caramel or crystal malts, with a pleasant hoppyness doing most of the work. Quite bitter flavor, with caramel maltyness in the back. Lasting bitter finish. Medium body, quite dry. A quite pleasant and easy drinkable beer. 110819
