Sampled at Snallygaster 2019. Poured a kind of copper red color with a small off-white head. Aroma was black currant, berry. Some light lemon, zesty. Fruity.

Tap. Pours hazy magenta, small pinkish white head, decent lacing. Aroma is berries, blackberry in particular, field grass, lactic acid, orange zest. Flavor is faintly tart, minimal bitterness, berries and lactic yogurt-like notes, hint of grass. Medium body, soft. Pleasant, uncomplex.

On tap at the brewery.
This was poured into a tall tulip (or maybe stemmed pilsener, depending upon how one looks at it).
The appearance was obviously a beautiful hazy purple with a finger’s worth of a foamy head. Delicate fade of the head produces a nice filmy messy lace.
The smell starts off with a big burst of fresh sweet grass, subtle spice, light funk. Sweet and tart raspberry graced the underneath side and sets forth in the balance as it warms.
The flavor follows suite with the crisp edge of the berries coming to fruition to display their power amongst a light funk. Grassiness still comes back with the spice and settles in nicely in the aftertaste and slyly moves in on the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a decent sessionably sweet crisp almost refreshing feel to it. Carbonation hits light. Tartness allows a nice harsh edge hitting my tongue nice and appropriate.
Overall, for a saison, yeah, it’s a bit different but hey, I get what the brewer seems to want to do with this, so when it’s this damn hot out, maybe I don’t want a too true to style saison, cause this one, well, you’ll definitely get your Vitamin C and be kept well hydrated. Of course, I’d have this again especially this time of year.
