Vol mondgevoel, mede door de koolzuur. Geel en troebel met vettig schuim. Frisse smaak met kruidige tonen. De jasmijn is wat ver weg. Zoetig, beetje bitter. Ruikt fris. Tof biertje

Bottled. Orangeish golden colour with a mediumsized fluffy white head. Aroma is tea, some yeasty tones, mild funk and some citrus. Flavour is fruity, floral, some herbal zesty and mild yeasty tones. Grassy and tea leafs in aftertaste.

Jasmin tea flavoured beer by Hof ten Dormaal, bottle bought at Geers. Near-gusher - but the foam stopped just at the edge of the bottle opening. Egg-white, mousy, regular head with gaps in the middle (and eventually dissolving all but completely); apricot-golden blonde robe with fierce sparkling everywhere - disturbing a suspension of very obvious and numerous protein flakes, whirling around like the snow flakes in one of those old-fashioned snow globes for kids that has just been shaken. Expressive, fruity and floral aroma of freshly cut sweet apples, melon, mushy banana, soggy white bread, green tea indeed, dried jasmin flowers, camomile, spoiled vegetable soup, milk turning sour even, chlorophyl, overripe lime. Estery onset, banana, pineapple, apple, green pear; sweet with a sourish undertone, medium carbonation (actually much softer than expected based on looks). Slick, bit resinous, soapy body, doughy-bready maltiness with a cereally edge, with the fruitiness continuing but more and more overruled by mild, very herbal spiciness, clear jasmin tea indeed with a 'green' as well as very flowery character, a tad perfumey but feeling entirely natural; yeasty phenols are thrown into this mix as well. Ends on a soapy note with lingering sweet fruitiness, ethereal herbalness, pleasantly bready but also somewhat 'dirty' yeastiness and only very mild, floral hop bitterishness. 'Saison' has become a 'pass partout' term for a whole bunch of Belgian and Belgian-inspired beers meanwhile, but the classic Belgian interpretation, given that this is what was intended here, needs more crispness, dryness and hoppiness - this one to me is way too sweet and 'flat' to fully qualify as one. The tea adds a perfumey-flowery and green-herbal aspect which you may like or not (I myself am not a fan of tea beers, admittedly), but the problem here lies with the basic beer itself, ridden with proteins that are beginning to decay - adding 'dirty' and sourish aspects to the aroma that I cannot find very enjoyable. Hof ten Dormaal is one of those overhyped hit-or-miss breweries with (many) more 'misses' than hits - and this, alas, is again not a hit in my book...

Bottle at home. Clear golden with white head. Sweet malts, bready, light yeast, very soft jasmine, leafy tea but also some grass and herbs. It's mostly malty at first, but after a while I really start to get the tea. Bit over medium sweet and medium bitter. Medium bodied. OK.

Bottle. Orange golden pour. Aroma of dry yeast ester, tea, malt and herbal bitters. Taste has dry yeast ester, sugar, malt, orange and a little green tea. I was hoping for a more peppery yeast character to match the tea.
