The hardest thing to explain on the side of a can is when we put things together because they complement rather than supplement. Balinator exists because each winter, Fair Mountain Coffee Roasters brings in Bali Blue Moon beans that evoke the same vanilla, dark chocolate and spicy licorice notes we find in a well-constructed doppelbock. To augment this notion, we brewed a proper doppel, subbing out hops with Bali beans. At the beginning of the boil, where hops would temper the malt’s sweetness with a bitter touch, we used raw green beans. At whirlpool, where hops would pull in spicy direction, we used ground, dark roast. Finally, for dry additions, where hops would layer fruit, we used medium roasted whole beans. Drink Balinator because beauty hides in suggestion.

16 oz can from Carton via delivery, 3/18/22. Was released in 2022, so not sure it needs to be retired, but anyway. Bubbly head sits atop a mostly clear lighter brown colored beer. Clean coffee aroma and flavor. Vanilla and chocolate. Spice and vegetal notes. Coffee is the star for sure, and it works nicely. Alcohol is hardly noticeable, and it drinks easy, so could be fairly dangerous at 8%, or maybe it'll just wake me up.

16 ounce can. Number one with a bullet. Orange brown pour. Small frothy beige head. Sweet toasted malt nose has obvious coffee notes. Yeah, there is a real resemblance to the Doppelbock style. Yes, there is a definite homage to the roasty, sweet German dark, strong character. OK, there is a certain resemblance to the classic esoteric, malty, cloying nod to the Fatherland. More genius from Carton. How does they do it? How duz they duit?
