Cask-conditioned at the Great Welsh Beer & Cider Festival, Cardiff 16/6/2011. Near black in colour with a slight, off-white head. Hoppy aroma with some chewy malts and chocolate. Flavour of dark followed by citrus fruits, more chocolate, black coffee, leading to a dry finish with some lingering pine.

Cask@GWBCF2011. Black colour with a small beige head. Aroma is berries, mild roasted malts, some slight toasted notes as well as dark fruits and some toffee. Flavour is roasted malts, some fruits, mild wooden dry notes as well. Roasted and wooden aftertaste.

(Cask at The Rake, London Bridge, London, 21 May 2011) Black colour with frothy, off-white head. Roasted, malty nose with liquorice, chocolate and piney hops. Roasted, malty taste with notes of dark bread, pine needles, citrus, raisins, chocolate and toasty malt. Generous piney bitterness in the finish. Slightly more than medium body, with balanced sweetness. Nice one.
