Bottle of Cotteridge Wines; beer styles confuse me had a BIPA earlier that tasted like an IPA that happened to be black, this one is called a BIPA but tastes like a stout and a quality stout at that. Dark roast chocolate malt flavour with only the slightest pine hop.

On tap at Tap East. Clear dark red-brown beer. Small bubbly pale tan head. Palate is fairly and a little dry. Fresh tasting beer. Light malt with a whisper of smoke. Nice red berry fruits. Good hops - juicy citrus with some robust bitterness. Semi dry finish with mild minerals. Hangs together well.

Cask @ Gallowβs Bird Real Ale Festival 2012
Pours dark brown, almost black with a tiny sticky white head. Aroma of mildly roasty malts, chocolate and fruity hops. Taste is slightly roasty with chocolate and mild fruity notes. Finish is slightly bitter with fruity and coffee notes. Quite nice, easy to drink black IPA.

Sampled @ Southampton Arms, London. Pitch black, opaque color, no head. Smell roastyness and coffee. Taste malts, roasty, coffee. Dry aftertaste, thin texture. Expected it to be more oily. Still decent carbo and body. Quite like it actually. But is this a Black IPA? Tastes like a stout to me...

Cask at the Euston Tap, London. Pours dark brown with a rich, off-white head. Aroma is well and roasty. Flavor is medium sweet, lots of dark malts, nice roast, earthy bitterness. Medium in body with fine carbonation. Light warm finish, good sweetness, some grass, burnt wood, and rindy citrus. Not bad at all!
