Hybrid between a Russian Imperial Stout and Oud Bruin.
Opposites attract. This sweet sour marriage combines the viscosity and robustness of a Russian Imperial Stout with the winy delicacy of our flemish red ale. Tasting this beer is like a Sovjet bombardment on your senses that throws you from Moscow to Modena and back, to find balanced somewhere in the middle. The aroma reveals chocolate, raisins and Syrup de Liège, with a sense of port wine. The thick, sweet start creates the expectations of an antitussive that pampers the throat. The tantalizing sourness when you swallow, though, crushes that expectation immediately, so you have to start all over again. Comrades, unite and drink this oil of brotherhood!

Il y a certaines bières qui impressionnent par leur justesse. C'est le cas ici avec cet Kameradski Balsamico alliance entre imperial stout et vieille brune qui est un exemple assez incroyable et totalement abouti entre ces 2 styles difficilement compatibles. En effet, nombreux sont les essais où l'acidité prend trop nettement l'ascendant sur l'imperial stout dont les arômes sont complètement atones. Ici la brasserie Verzet a réussi à trouver un excellent équilibre en, je pense, intégrant davantage d'imperial stout que de vieille brune, mais surtout avec une base d'imperial stout, qui a été quelque peu poussé, mais juste ce qu'il faut en malt, en sucre et en alcool, contrebalançant ainsi l'acidité de la vieille brune, et ainsi permettant aux arômes de chocolat et de café de subsister en créer une très bonne alliance avec ceux de vieille brune sur le vinaigre de framboise tournant au balsamique avec l'intégration de l'imperial stout. Le visuel se porte sur un marron très foncé sans mousse. L'effervescence y est peu présente. Le nez m'a quelque peu inquiété avec un ascendant de l'acidité bien marqué. Heureusement, l'équilibre se fait à l'attaque sur une belle texture suave et une base torréfiée qui répond superbement sur la vieille brune. La deuxième bouche gagne encore en consistance sans devenir à aucun moment écœurante, ce qui aurait pu être le cas, si l'alcool ou le sucre avait été surdosé. L'arrière et le final sont quant à elle davantage tournées sur l'acidité et le vinaigre de framboise sans pour autant dénoter. Une référence qu'il faut avoir dégusté, et de préférence en bonne compagnie comme cela a pu être le cas pour moi.

Mix between a RIS and an oak aged oud bruin. Big buttery smell immediately upon opening, underneath balsamic vinegar indeed. Slightly sour, pretty sweet, a bit of chocolate, but really metallic. Some bitterness at the end. Doesn't really work, feels off.

Tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours black with minimal, very fine foam. Aroma is quite evidently acetic, but also balsamic, licorice. Body is average, practically without carbonation, a little oily. Taste is an adventure: evident sweetness in the beginning, with a medium acetic feeling and a final spiciness which makes it quite interesting. Final is medium-long, but fairly delicate. The alcohol level is hidden pretty well in this beer. You would never say it is 13.5%...

Saturday 1st Feb 2020. On tap in Huis de Cluuse, Brugge. Black bodied, tanned topping. Strange sourness to this weird beer, definite Balsamic aroma and taste within the nose and flavours. Liked it, but one was enough. Went very well with a the rich Pork Stew I had with it.

Tap at Hoptic 2020. Black with light tan head. Massive glue. Balsamic dark fruits and strong gluey alcoholic boost. Some parts good some parts pretty bad. Smooth rich body, raging sour.

Can at Firkin Alehouse Folkestone tasting December. black beer lasting tan head. wow sweet like a barley wine then fruit. then fruit. some Flemish sour barley wine crossover. I thought incredible. so much flavour.

Zwart bier met mooie bruine schuimkraag. Smaak is zoet met een licht zuurtje en iets van likeur en port. Geweldige combinatie.
