Hybrid between a Russian Imperial Stout and Oud Bruin.

Opposites attract. This sweet sour marriage combines the viscosity and robustness of a Russian Imperial Stout with the winy delicacy of our flemish red ale. Tasting this beer is like a Sovjet bombardment on your senses that throws you from Moscow to Modena and back, to find balanced somewhere in the middle. The aroma reveals chocolate, raisins and Syrup de Liège, with a sense of port wine. The thick, sweet start creates the expectations of an antitussive that pampers the throat. The tantalizing sourness when you swallow, though, crushes that expectation immediately, so you have to start all over again. Comrades, unite and drink this oil of brotherhood!

Dark ruby, almost black, minimal brown head. Aroma is very intensive, with raisin, cherry, praline, balsamico, wood. Amazing! Alcohol is not noticeable. Medium swiftness, lightly sour. Maybe a bit too sweet. Medium body. Very good!

(Sample shared @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Feb 1/19) Black pour with a small tan head. Notes of heavy sweet-tart balsamic vinegar, dark and moderately sweet malts with heavy roast, waves of wood, cocoa powder, cherry flesh, blueberries, black currants, tannins. Balance is interesting interplay of sweet malt and fruity acidity, and finishes relatively dry with lingering cherries, balsamic vinegar and slightly ashy roast with some alcohol heat. Medium-full bodied with average carbonation. Very interesting beer, not sure how I'd fare over a glass but I appreciated trying it.

33cl Bottle. Black colour, brown head. Aroma of pure balsamic vinegar, wood, acetone. Flavour is something else, quite sweet, molasses, toffee, roasted malts, light balsamic vinegar sourness, red wine, dark chocolate, tart-bitter finish. Medium to full bodied, smooth. Very tasty, original beer.

Bottle from Legacy. Black body, not a lot of head, but a little. There's a deep tartness on the nose - massive wood and, yes, what seems balsamic. Also some dark malt and a little bit of alcohol sting. Starts sweet, throws out some roast, then drops a deep fruit tartness, a lot of wood, some alcohol heat, and comes back to rich malt sweetness with chocolate-cherry notes for the finish. This is big and brash, but brings some subtlety and style as well. Very interesting and fun brew.
