A hopped up, pumped up pilsner. I like the premise. I have a pint can from an East coast retailer that is going inside of a small bar glass giving a view of a clear gold-yellow body with a stupendous head of white foam that eventually calms down. I smell grain and citrus, not real surprising. The drink stays heavy with grain, malt and a nice little hops finish. Is that a touch of cantaloupe in there? For a basic tasting beer this is a pretty decent brew, good sensation, curious name and a higher abv. All right by me.

16 oz can from the BA Big Beer box. Aroma is grassy, chalky. Pours nearly clear golden with a one+ finger bone-white head with good retention. Taste has a moderate herbal bitterness backed by some typical malt sweetness. Pillowy, nearly champagne level carbonation and mouthfeel. Herbal bitterness lingers long on the palate. Imperial Pilsners are such a weird lager subcategory. They don’t really have the attributes of a normal strength Pilsner, including the crispness I crave from them, but the different flavors created by only amping up the ABV are fascinating to me.

Crusher of a beer. Hides the abv well. Aleksey Miranchuk with a beautiful left footed curler gave the Russians the 3pts vs Finland, opening up group B for quite a dramatic match day three. Thanks NFB!

16 ounce can. Brassy golden pour. Large frothy white head. Sweet grainy malt nose hints at citrus, berry and melon. First sip brings notes of mango and peach. Middle shows off traces of grassy herbal notes. Spicy, piney finish is pleasant. Hard to tell this is an Imperial Pilsner clocking in at 7.1% ABV. I prefer drinking this on my front porch, thank you.

16 oz can from the brewery, via delivery, 6/1/20. Pours a fully clear golden color, thin ring of white head, very minimal lace. Bright peach, papaya over some herbal and grass hops. Lively, crisp, clean. Really can't tell that it is 7.1% at all. Just a really bright, hoppy pilsner here. Very well done. Great backyard beer!
