Eisbock 28 is an ice processed winter warmer. This rich lager is aged for months at temperatures well below freezing and is a deep gold color and has a smooth and malty flavor with bittersweet complexities. This highly unique beer is unlike any other and to our knowledge Redhook is the only American Brewer currently brewing it. This traditional winter beer is very drinkable, even with its high alcohol content and is perfect before or after dinner.

Bomber into dimpled mug. Pours amber with a medium collapsing beige head. Aroma is caramel malt, raisins, cinnamon rolls, alcohol. Taste is mostly sweet with a tart and bitter edge. Tastes of apples. Carbonation is medium-high, body is full. Pretty good beer for Redhook. I thought it would get cloying, but it didn’t.

Bottle: Pours a beautiful translucent amber color with a thin, short-lived sandy head. Aroma is very sweet; candied sugar, malts, and fruity. Hints of spice? Maybe cinnamon? Apple juice too... At first sip the abv is noticeable; very warming and lightly hot. Some florals and earthy bits, spicey, and some faint malts. I’m finding it a touch on the abrasive side. Enjoyed more at a colder than cellar temp - smoother and more balanced.
